Urban Photo Safari

Mark Photographing Bleecker Street
Mark-Caught in the Act, West Village, Manhattan

We were on a little urban photo safari last night. It started at the Apple store in SoHo where Ted purchased some iPod accessories for a road trip to Seattle and Mark purchased a tabletop tripod. After some pizza and beer, Ted treated us to ice cream at Cones (love the Dulce de Leche there) and off-handedly mentioned he has roof access… now, I don’t know about you but whenever anyone says they have roof access I always have to find a way up there! It just gives such a different perspective on things.. and since Ted lives in my neighborhood I knew I’d be able to see things that I see everyday. Without any hesitation Ted let us up on the roof (thanks!) where we found there are amazing views of the Village, SoHo and the Empire State Building. Mark got a lot of good shots. I hope he posts them soon.

Oh, and that last Chimay that I had when Wendy met up with us and forced us into a bar has left me with a slight headache. I guess it’s probably not a good idea to rehydrate with beer when you’re sweating buckets.

Update: Mark has his photos posted now.

It All Started at Vintage

Steve stares thoughtfully at goat cheese.

At 5:00 the whistle blew and we bounded out of the office for a wine tasting at Vintage. After about 31 hours without sleep, Steve stared wearily at some goat cheese he refused to eat.

Wendy does the best fishy-face ever!

In an attempt to identify all of the animals that Mark would like to have brutally slaughtered for his dinner, Steve “baaaah”ed and “mooooooo”ed and Wendy made fishy-faces. The wine is obviously kicking in.

Steve went home, Mark went back to work (after purchasing an iPod.. bastard!) and Ted, Wendy, and I headed over to Shade for more wine and some crepes. We were able to convince Ted, who hadn’t slept in about 40 hours and had a bottle of wine in him, to let us meet his 21-pound cat, George. He’s a sweetheart. The cat, I mean. heh.

Park Slope, Brooklyn –> Montclair, NJ

Park Slope to Montclair Move
Move from Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY to Montclair, NJ

Mark and Wendy moved from their urban brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn to a beautiful spacious house they bought in suburban Montclair, New Jersey today. At the last minute U-Haul screwed them (surprise, surprise: U-Haul Boycott Site) and they had to hire movers. It actually was less expensive than it seems like it would be, given they only gave the movers 4 hour notice to get there, and lucky us, we then barely had to lift a finger! Montclair reminds me of home in a way. All the houses are gorgeous, old and enormous and colonial and victorian style. There was a house I saw that looks almost exactly like my old (queen-anne style?) house on State St. in Appleton, WI. I think Montclair is a great place to settle down, raise a family and still be within reach of New York. Congratulations and good luck, Mark & Wendy! I had fun hanging out and (not) helping you move today! When the stress of The City gets me you know where I’ll be heading. Oh, and I can’t wait for the first barbecue this spring!

Congrats to Mark & Wendy

Le Mansion de ShewmakerOh, and last night we went out to the Screening Room to help Mark & Wendy celebrate the finale of their house buying adventure. I help them move in to “Le Mansion de Shewmaker” on Saturday. After the Screening Room, Jeannette, Yvan and I went into Chinatown and ate at the Moon House Restaurant and then went to the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory afterwards. What idiots we are. Picture Jeannette and I walking down the street with wool jackets, scarves, hats, and gloves and holding onto and eating ice cream cones. That place seriously needs to get some indoor seating. After that I was up all night having scary nightmares of rats and chicken feet. Jeannette can explain that if you really want to know. She was taunting me!!!!!!!
