This year was the 5th year that Sue and I went to Kelly and Jeff’s for Thanksgiving. This year was special because it was Tessa’s first Thanksgiving.

As always, Jeff did most of the cooking. He was in charge of the meal and we were just there to help. He brined the turkey overnight then cooked it to perfection. He also made homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing and pumpkin pies. We also had mashed potatoes with gravy, mashed rutabaga, and sweet potato casserole.

Hi Ho! Hi Ho!

March 28th, 2006 · 11 Comments

My last week of leisure. For quite a while I’ve been spending my days going to the gym, lunching, exploring neighborhoods, working on Chicagoist, going to museums, cooking, hanging out in coffee shops with wifi access: taking it easy. Today I’m going out to Virginia/DC to visit Kelly, Jeff and Tessa. Kelly is my fellow “woman of leisure” right now while she’s on maternity leave.

feedburner.gifNext week my current lifestyle is going to change bigtime when I start my new job at FeedBurner. I think it’s right about time. It will be good to be productive again and I’m really excited to be a part of such an exciting company. I know there’s a lot to learn and I have a lot to contribute as the position will be a little writing, a little design, a little front-end development and in the blogging industry – it’s like a perfect blend of everything I’ve been doing in the past 6 years. And everyone I’ve met there seems really terrific. Seems to be a really great team and a great environment. I’m psyched!

Oh, and if you’d like to subscribe to my new feed, via Feedburner, click this orange button here or on the bottom right-hand column.

A little belated, but here are a couple images from the 4th annual Thanksgiving in Virginia festivities. Jeff made a brine and let the turkey soak overnight. Then while cooking, he put onion and a bunch of fresh herbs inside. It gave the meat a great taste and the brine kept it moist.

While we’re not stuffing our faces with turkey, Kelly, Jeff, Sue and I usually try to get out and do some things in the Virginia/Washington DC area. This year we visited Great Falls Park in Virginia before heading off to Georgetown in DC for some shopping and dinner.
