Yesterday the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that I’ve been tracking the building of was dedicated. Yesterday, being Veterans Day, was very appropriate. I had a feeling it was going to look enchanting at night, with the lights on, and it was. I spent a long time exploring the memorial, enjoying the view from the river, and taking photographs. It was very serene and relaxing. My dad is a Vietnam war veteran so I’d like to take him here some day.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza Construction, River North, Chicago
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is coming along nicely. It will be interesting to see if people go to it and chill out or just walk through then back out.. or even go down there at all. Compare the progress to what it looked like in August. It’s supposed to open next week, I think.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza Construction, River North, Chicago
Across the river from the Trump construction site there’s a much smaller, less sexy construction site. Here they’re building a new Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza. I can’t find much about it online except this memo that says it will open on November 11, 2005.
