Wicker Park Trixies?

It looks like the Wicker Park Urban Outfitters that everyone is siting as the death of the neighborhood is finally open. Not saying I exactly share that view, it’s just strange that they’ve pinned it on this place, and have ignored the fancy boutiques and other chains (American Apparel, anyone?) that have been moving in and have been there for years.

Every time I walk out the door there’s something new in the neighborhood. Yesterday I walked to Bucktown to meet up with Justin and saw that Urban Outfitters is coming to Milwaukee Ave. It was only a matter of time before Wicker Park got a mainstream, national chain apparel store. American Apparel went in a while ago, but that still somehow has some indie cred. Let’s hear people bitch about Urban Outfitters..

Also, the imported goods store that was kind of like Cost Plus World Market is being replaced by Scoop NYC, a high-end clothing store.

On the way back was walking down Western and saw this crazy mural. It was about 10x as long as the last photograph, but I didn’t want to walk down the alley by these dudes who were hanging out so I couldn’t photograph it.

January 8 – January 12, 2003. Nancy’s Vacation in NYC. Rachelle & Nancy at Washington Square Park. Right after we took this photo of ourselves, Josh called. Then right after that, we walked past Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
