I just got a subscription to Cooking Light magazine and last night we tried the first recipe from it, Thai Fish Sauce Lime Chicken. Lots of chili sauce made it a spicier than I like and the sauce was a bit runny. If I’d remembered to log on to the Cooking Light web site I’d have seen user comments saying to cut down on the lime juice and that the sauce came out thin. Next time.
Dallas called his mom recently and got the secret Crowell Family Salad Dressing recipe. We had that tossed with some baby romaine before our main entrees.

7 Train from Times Square to Queens
Last night I hoofed it out to Woodside, Queens with Jeannette & 5 of her friends to go to a place called Sripraphai that is supposedly the best Thai restaurant in the entire city. While I don’t think that I enjoyed it the most of any Thai restaurant that I’ve been to, I do believe that it was the most authentic.
I read a review before we went that said “it isn’t that this place is a dive, it’s that this place is devoid of any character at all”. It was right on. On the front window there was a sign for an electrical contractor, not sure he operates upstairs from the restaurant or what the deal with that is. Inside, the lights were too bright, the interior too austere. We were seated in this weird musty downstairs area that had short, 6-foot ceilings. The food was spicy. All of it. I think the group of us went through 6 pitchers of water. I like to try new things and explore foreign neighborhoods in the outer boroughs, so all in all this was a good experience. Oh, and in this neighborhood, the cat callers will be calling you “Hot Mamita” instead of “Hot Mama”.

(Es)Sex Street, Lower East Side, Manhattan
Every time I go to Sea Thai I love it even more. The food there is amazing, beautifully presented and wonderfully affordable! Last night I had the Malay Massaman Curry. Its a thick, mild, really sweet curry with peanuts, coconut milk, potatoes, chicken and onions. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Afterwards we were going to see Adaptation at the Sunshine Cinema, but it was sold out. On the way over we passed by.. .. uh.. Sex St. ?
