One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell

I was a huge fan of the TV series Sex and the City, which was based off a book by the same name that was written by Candace Bushnell. Even though the show was on years ago and I loved it, I never read any of Bushnell’s novels before now. One Fifth Avenue is about the residents who live at the address that is the book’s title. It was an easy, end of day, fun read. Like Sex and the City it contained large doses of sex, drugs, gossip, backstabbing, murder, society and New York City.

These two shows were on at the same time. Thought it was weird that they had the same wording.

After spending all day drinking at Tour de Fat, we came back to our house and rested for a while. We were watching Teen Wolf when we noticed that Stiles’s shirt said “What Are You Looking At Dicknose.” Never noticed that before. Cracked us up!

On Our DVR

April 3rd, 2009 · 14 Comments

We record the series (automatically records every time it’s on) for all of these. There are a lot, but some of these aren’t airing right now. They’re still in the list so that when the new season starts it will start recording automatically. We limit the number of times a show can record before deleting the oldest to 5 shows. I like having a lot recording because then when nothing is on you have a whole queue of shows to pick from.

  • The Simpsons (3 times/day plus the new ones on Sunday night)
  • Lost
  • American Idol
  • Scrubs
  • Heroes
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Office
  • Top Chef
  • Mad Men
  • Fringe
  • It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
  • Magnum P.I.
  • Survivor
  • The Beast
  • Oprah Winfrey
  • 30 Rock
  • My Name is Earl
  • The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency
  • America’s Next Top Model
  • Flight of the Concords
  • Amazing Race
  • The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
  • Better Off Ted
  • Dhani Tackles the Globe
  • Eastbound & Down

Anything we should be watching that we’re not? There are a few shows we watch a lot that we don’t record. Not sure why.

The Best Valentines Day Gift Ever

February 10th, 2009 · 9 Comments

snuggieFor an early Valentines Day gift Dallas got me a Snuggie. It’s the best. As you can see, I can read a book (with the free book light that came with the Snuggie) and use the remote without my arms getting cold or being tucked under the blanket!

All joking aside, it really is very warm and cozy. Plus it’s fun to say Snuggie. I will ignore the blue fuzzies that are gathering on my clothes and furniture and how difficult it is to walk on the stairs and the fact that it smells slightly plastic-y. The Snuggie is awesome. It has occurred to me, though, that I’ve been wearing the Snuggie backwards a lot and then essentially I’m just wearing a robe. .. but where can you get a nice, oversized, fuzzy robe like this for only $14.99? And did I mention the free book light that was included?

This all came about from watching the “As Seen on TV commercials on the Sleuth Channel where we watch Magnum P.I. reruns all the time. And one night about a week ago I was downstairs in bed reading. It was freezing. I keep the heat down to save money. Instead of continuing to read I just bundled under the covers and rolled over to go to sleep, saying I was too cold. Dallas was all “You need the Snuggie to keep your arms warm.” Here I am now typing this while wearing the Snuggie.
