I love this menu that was plastered around the neighborhood. It’s for a Chinese restaurant, but it’s translated into Spanish. .. something I’ve never seen done before.

After visiting the United States Holocaust Museum Memorial, we had Spanish tapas at Jaleo. Really great food & sangria (we tried both the red & the white). After dinner we went to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to see a play called Shear Madness. It’s a comedic murder mystery set in a hair styling salon that has the audience participating in the outcome.

My niece, Stephanie, is 7 years old and this summer she is taking German classes. Last summer she took Spanish classes. I spoke with her on the phone the other night and part of our conversation went something like this:
Steph: “I could learn all of the languages in the world and then when I met someone they would never know what language I was born speaking!”
Me: “Yeh, you could learn Spanish, German, French, Chinese, Portuguese, ”
Steph: “PORK CHEESE? What language is that!??!”
