On the way back up
Snow Lake is a secluded lake in the Alpine Lake Wilderness in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualamie National Forest in Washington State. The lake is fed from melted snow on the surrounding mountains. Joanne, Jeff’s sister, took Jeff, Kelly and I to Snow Lake along with her friend Marc. To get to the lake you must drive about an hour outside of Seattle and then hike up a mountain, about 3 miles and then hike down about another half mile (7 mile hike, roundtrip). Once at the lake, we ate a picnic dinner that Joanne had prepared for us. It was just enough energy to get us back 3 1/2 miles over the mountain to the car. Kelly and Jeff and I were glad that this was our first hike of the trip because it made every hike after it seem easy. Working so hard to get to the lake just made it that much more beautiful, though.
