Mets vs. Astros

Mets vs. Astros
Mets vs. Astros, Shea Stadium, Flushing, Queens

The New York Mets beat the Houston Astros 4 – 2 tonight. It was freezing out – 40 degrees & windy – so we were all bundled up. Many of the seats at Shea Stadium were empty. A freezing cold ballpark really isn’t the palce to be eating Chinese pastries unless you want to end up with a face full of cream, which I did. To stay warm, I drank a huge cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, the official coffee of the Mets, and now I feel like I won’t be able to fall asleep until 3 a.m.

I should be jealous that Tien met Mr. Met and got his autograph, but I’m not. Mr. Met is kind of creepy. The Shea DJ.. that guy is cool.

I’ve heard it’s been said that the Mets are New York’s middle class baseball team and that the Yankees are New York’s upper class baseball team. The stadium tonight had no shortage of the middle class, sporting mullets or stuffing their faces with nachos and hot dogs. I have a feeling that it’d be the same at Yankee Stadium. This is the usual scene at any ballpark, isn’t it?

Thanks, Waikin, for the ride home in your brand new car (I promise I didn’t spill a drop of coffee). If you live in the city and you have a car, you will always be a friend of mine.
