Someone brought these to work and they shockingly tasted just like turkey and stuffing!

One time we ordered Thai food from Trike and they threw in a bag of Ruffles????
“Weird” Chips
Our team at work was a little obsessed with odd flavored chips for a while. Chris brought these back from a trip to China. Italian Red Meat Flavor was good. Yogurt flavor? Not so much!
I brought these back from Jackson Heights, NY. Naughty Tomato was only purchased for the name. I thought they’d be spicy, but they weren’t. I like the Masala chips. And I bought the American Style Cream & Onion ones just because I thought that was funny too. They were just the same as Sour Cream & Chive.

Lobster Roll
Cape Cod Potato Chips
Maine Root Blueberry Soda
One day when I was in New York I tagged along with my coworkers RJ and Jacqui to go to Luke’s Lobster. I didn’t know what it was really, except that they had lobster rolls. When we arrived, there was a window you ordered from and then you just got your food to go. I think they had a restaurant with a small dining area, but we just did the window.
Luke’s Lobster offers a lobster roll, a crab roll or a shrimp roll, or a combo with half of each. I stuck with the lobster roll. I think you could also get clam chowder, but I didn’t. I got my lobster roll in a combo that included soda, chips and a pickle, although it should be noted that I never got the pickle. The chips were, appropriately, Cape Cod chips. The soda was Maine Root Soda. I could choose from root beer or blueberry and I got the blueberry. I never had blueberry soda before and I really liked it. I also really enjoyed the lobster roll. The chunks of meat were huge and you got a lot of it on the roll.
I liked Luke’s Lobster for something different for lunch, but it should be noted that this is not the cheapest lunch. My combo was $17, which is much more than I could afford to spend on lunch on a regular basis. Still it would be a good spot to visit once in a while.
Guri-Guri
Donna had a freelance photography gig in afternoon so Dustin, Dallas and I hung out. We went to Queen Ka’ahumanu Shopping Center to look for a store but it had closed, so we just had lunch there. I had Maui Taco again, but Dustin and Dallas went for Blazin’ Steaks. We ran a few errands and then Dustin took us to get Guri-guri.
Guri-guri is a cross between sherbert and ice cream. The only place you can get it is in Maui at Tasaka.
When you walk into Tasaka, which is located in the Maui Mall in Kahului, there are just a couple people behind the counter. The older man behind the counter is Henry Tasaka and is the grandson of the founder. You can choose from two guri-guri flavors: strawberry or pineapple. I got one scoop of each. We paid a whopping $1.10 for two scoops, which are served in a little Dixie cup.
The recipe for guri-guri has been in the Tasaka family for 4 generations and is a closely guarded secret.
It’s said that guri-guri originated during Hawaii’s plantaton days in the 1890’s. Supposedly the Japanese plantation workers pronounced “goodie-goodie” as “guri-guri” and the name stuck.
Dallas doesn’t really care for guri-guri so he got Maui made Kitch’n Cook’d potato chips. He did try just a taste of my guri-guri, but didn’t get any of his own.
After our guri-guri adventure, Dustin took me to Billie J. Boutique (444 Hana Hwy, Kahului), a store that Donna loves. I got a dress, blouse, necklace and bracelet for less than $90, which I thought was a pretty good deal. I needed a dress for Cory & Chris’s wedding, so I was happy to find one at a great price!
Later on Dustin made kalbi ribs for us for dinner. Yum!
