Jess and Jeannette and I had met up for manicures and pedicures at Lily’s Nail. Then we just walked around and went in and out of some shops. I really liked this perfume at Fresh, Pink Jasmine. I didn’t buy it then because it was a liquid and I only had carry on bags, but I’ll be getting it soon.
We wandered through the Union Square Greenmarket. We then headed south and walked through Washington Square Park and then headed to The Village for lunch.

River North, Chicago
Just some photos I took with my new camera while waiting for the Brown Line. Just trying to get a feel for it and get used to it. Allison and I had brunch in the West Loop and then got manicures and pedicures in preparation for our trip.

This morning I was sitting at the bus stop reading a book. I was the only one actually inside the bus stop shelter, although there were several people loitering around waiting for the bus outside of it. A guy comes in and sits down, looks like a pretty normal middle-aged latino guy, and says “I like your nails.” I look down at my unpainted, uneven fingernails and then realize he’s looking at my equally as uneven and sloppily painted toenails which are showing because I’m wearing cropped pants and flipflops. I just say “Thanks.” Then he says “Where do you get your nails done?” I must have gave him an odd look because he said “I’m just asking because I have a salon downtown.” I think, “Oh, here we go.” I figured this guy is like one of those people that come up to you on the street and compliment you on your hair then try to get you to go to their fancy spa at some discounted rate. “At least he’s not just some random foot pervert,” I think. He asks me if I use lotion with vitamin E. Then he gets back into pervert territory by asking what size my foot is. He actually reached down and before I could react touched the bottom of my heel and rubbed it. It felt like for 3 minutes, when really it was probably 3 seconds but it totally creeped me out. Luckily his phone rang and he took it out with the same hand he just touched some stranger’s foot with and pulled out the phone. A Motorola Razr.. So maybe he was a salon owner? What kind of loser foot pervert carries a Razr? Still, even if he was some foot expert. That’s super creepy to go around touching people’s feet in public. Again luckily, the bus came right after that. He didn’t even get on. Guess he was just hanging around the bus stop rubbing girls’ feet. Ewwww.

Forest Hills, Queens
On Friday afternoon I arrived at LaGuardia and for the first time EVER was picked up. Every other time I’ve flown back & forth to NY I’ve taken a cab or a shuttle to/from the airport. Jess & Dave still had the car they were renting for their trip to Cape Cod earlier in the week so they were nice enough to come get me.
Friday night was low-key. We hung out in Forest Hills, where they live; ate some Indian food, which I haven’t had since moving; had some beers; and went to Cold Stone Creamery. Forest Hills is much different than the image that I had in my head. It’s completely gentrified with Sephora and Banana Republic chain stores and has a ton of little stores, restaurants, and bars. It’s really nice, but too bad it’s so far out in Queens.
On Saturday Jess and I got manicures and pedicures at one of the many nail shops in Forest Hills. Afterwards we took a walk around the neighborhood. It’s odd how just a few blocks off Austin Street, the main drag, there are cobblestone streets and tons of Tudor architecture.
