Cheap and Chic

October 16th, 2010 · No Comments

In late August I was shopping around for a new purse. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I hit up all the discount places: Nordstrom Rack, Filene’s Basement, TJ Maxx, and Loehmann’s. While at Loehmann’s, I spotted this pretty bag and the tag said “Cheap and Chic.” Score! Except when I looked closer it was $399.99. .. uh.. and that was the deeply discounted price. No thanks. I ended up getting this Nine West bag from Filene’s for $30. It’s nothing crazy and will probably not last too long, but that’s about all I was willing to spend right now. Trying to keep shopping to a minimum as we save for the wedding!

DSW Makes Me Dizzy

Until recently, I’d only been to DSW one time. It was with Lori and was out in the suburbs. I knew I needed to get some shoes for Molly & Eric’s wedding so I went online and looked up DSW locations and realized that the one in Chicago is right near the Belmont stop on the Red and Brown Lines. So, I went. I found a pair of versatile Nine West black dress shoes that worked out well and also got a cute pair of black & white Rocket Dogs for the spring/summer. Ironically, Lori met me there, so every time I’ve been to DSW has been with Lori. Afterwards we had dinner at Kitsch’n and went to Jen & Chad’s for a while.

On a side note, there was a pair of shoes I saw when we were shopping in Hawaii. They were also Rocket Dogs and had hula dancers on them and said “Aloha.” I didn’t buy them because I didn’t want to carry them in my luggage and then when I got home I looked at them on Zappos but I didn’t know if I still liked them or if it was a “vacation mode” thing. I saw them when we visited DSW and I really did like them, but they didn’t have my size. I went home and Zappos had one pair in my size left, so I got them.

Shoe Shopping in SoHo

Probably one of my least favorite things to do. But I totally needed to get some casual black shoes for the winter. There wasn’t anything I loved this year. At each store I went to there were shoes that would do the job. At Steve Madden there were 3 pairs, all about the same price, so I picked these, the most comfortable ones. I like them.. but I wish I could just get my old pair of Nine Wests from last year!! I wore them so much that I wore holes in them. Expect to see these new shoes in the Street Writing soon.

Nine West is Too Close to my Apartment

February 9th, 2002 · Comments Off

Nine West on 5th Avenue was having a sale today. The good news is that I managed to escape, having only purchased 1 pair of dressy shoes, 1 pair of casual shoes and 1 pair of trouser socks. And, that on these 3 purchases I only spent $55!
