Burritoville, Chelsea, Manhattan
On Friday night after dinner, Jeff, John and I went to some random bar called Honey to have another beer. We sat outside at a small table and I sat with my back to the sidewalk. I happened to glance over my shoulder and who was walking down the street? Eddie! I haven’t seen Eddie since we went to the Bronx Zoo in 2005. So random that he walked past the bar and I happened to look at that exact second. I yelled his name and he was so shocked too. We hugged and he gave me his card. Crazy.
Then on Saturday I was shopping around on 8th Avenue in Chelsea. I went to go to TMobile to look at phones and the store was closed until 12:30, so I went to Bloomie Nails and got a pedicure. After that I went back to TMobile and got a phone and then it was like 2pm so I just went to Burritoville to grab something for lunch. I went to the counter and ordered then sat my stuff in a booth and went back to the counter to get my food. When I came back the guy in the booth next to mine said “Rachelle!” I turned and looked and it was Kevin Walsh from Forgotten New York. Kevin and I have corresponded over email and stuff for years, but I don’t think I’ve actually seen him since I was on one of his tours in 2003. 4 years. Wow. And he’s published a book in the meantime, so I congratulated him on that.
It really blows my mind sometimes how these things just seem to happen in New York. It’s such a big city with so many people and so many restaurants and bars and what are the chances of me walking into one and seeing someone I know? Two days in a row!?
Also, this is the new phone I got: Samsung t629. And below is the first photos I took using it.

This morning I was sitting at the bus stop reading a book. I was the only one actually inside the bus stop shelter, although there were several people loitering around waiting for the bus outside of it. A guy comes in and sits down, looks like a pretty normal middle-aged latino guy, and says “I like your nails.” I look down at my unpainted, uneven fingernails and then realize he’s looking at my equally as uneven and sloppily painted toenails which are showing because I’m wearing cropped pants and flipflops. I just say “Thanks.” Then he says “Where do you get your nails done?” I must have gave him an odd look because he said “I’m just asking because I have a salon downtown.” I think, “Oh, here we go.” I figured this guy is like one of those people that come up to you on the street and compliment you on your hair then try to get you to go to their fancy spa at some discounted rate. “At least he’s not just some random foot pervert,” I think. He asks me if I use lotion with vitamin E. Then he gets back into pervert territory by asking what size my foot is. He actually reached down and before I could react touched the bottom of my heel and rubbed it. It felt like for 3 minutes, when really it was probably 3 seconds but it totally creeped me out. Luckily his phone rang and he took it out with the same hand he just touched some stranger’s foot with and pulled out the phone. A Motorola Razr.. So maybe he was a salon owner? What kind of loser foot pervert carries a Razr? Still, even if he was some foot expert. That’s super creepy to go around touching people’s feet in public. Again luckily, the bus came right after that. He didn’t even get on. Guess he was just hanging around the bus stop rubbing girls’ feet. Ewwww.
