Eric & Laura, Lincoln Park, Chicago

Laura, Lincoln Park, Chicago

Eric, Lincoln Park, Chicago
My coworker Eric is moving to New York and last night was his going away party. Eric grew up in Boston and he and Laura moved to Chicago a couple years ago when Eric started working at FeedBurner. As you can see he loves the Boston Red Sox. The bar that we went to, Tripoli, is a Red Sox bar that Eric frequents. Last night many, many, many buckets of Miller High Life were consumed. Too many! But Dallas and I had a great time. Best wishes to Eric and Laura for the future.

Steinlager @ Jewel, Wicker Park, Chicago
Steinlager is Dallas’ favorite beer (besides the High Life, groan!) but in the past he’s only been able to get it in Hawaii. I remember drinking it for the first time last year when we were at his family’s barbecue. He said he thinks one time in about 2000 he saw it for sale in Boystown, but otherwise hasn’t seen it anywhere outside of Hawaii. It’s a beer made in New Zealand, so I guess it just has a very limited distribution.
Last week we were at Jewel picking up some groceries and some wine for Danny’s party when I spotted it on the liquor section. I shouted over to Dallas, “Hey, they have Steinlager!” and he whipped around so fast I thought he got whiplash!

Dallas said the High Life in the can was an integral part of his meal.

Rachelle’s Dinner

Birthday brownies with make-do candle.

Left Right Center Dice

Left Right Center Dice
On Friday we celebrated Dallas’ birthday by inviting a bunch of people over and getting Hawaiian food catered in from Aloha Grill. We had kalbi ribs, katsu chicken, mac salad and rice. Billy, these photos are just for you!
After dinner we had brownies that Kristin made. The candle there isn’t some sort of weird Hawaiian thing, it’s the closest to birthday candles we could find in the house. Can’t have a cake without at least one candle for a birthday wish.
To work off all the food we played an epic game of Left, Right, Center. 12 people x 3 dollars/round x 3 rounds. No one could believe it pushed into a third round. Jen took home over $100 by rolling that dot at the end. Texas Hold’em was next. I went to bed at 2:30 and there were still 3 people in the game with pretty evenly distributed chips. I think it went on til like 4am, when Darren ended it by taking down Trent.
