Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual by Michael Pollan

finished 01.22.10

Food Rules is basically the cliff notes to all of Michael Pollan‘s writing. I’ve read some of his articles and parts of his books and while I like his philosophy, I’m not a completely converted disciple. Food Rules gives you a lot of his philosophies in little bite-size chunks… in little sentences that are easy to remember in your day-to-day. Don’t eat anything your grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food. The whiter the bread the sooner you’ll be dead. Eat when you are hungry, not when you are bored. Eat only foods that will eventually rot. Etc. This book can be read in one sitting..but I think I’ll keep it around and just skim over it again over time.
