Jess got tickets to see Joe Purdy at Maxwell’s in Hoboken on Sunday night. Maxwell’s is kind of a cool place. It’s a restaurant/bar and then off to the said there’s a room where bands play. Probably about 200 people max can fit in to see a show. We had dinner and saw the show all in the same spot.
Julie Peel opened for Joe Purdy. She’s this French woman who is all hipstered out living in Brooklyn now. She has a really great voice. Witness here:

I’d actually never really listened to Joe Purdy before. Both he and Julie Peel sang solo while playing a guitar or piano. No hiding. Joe Purdy has such an amazing voice. Very soulful. We had a lot of fun, even though Joe, got really drunk and couldn’t remember lyrics! Makers Mark! And even though I didn’t know any of the songs. Oh, I take that back. I recognized one song because it gets played in commercials for the Kia Spectra. See if you recognize it:
