New Years Eve 2019

Party people waiting for the countdown (including Jess and Chris!)

Last year we allowed (haha) Jen and Chad to go to California for New Years Eve, but this year they were back and hosting again. We’ve gone to their house for New Years Eve every year except two, all the way back to 2005!

Makai stayed up til midnight. AND LATER! I don’t think we left Jen and Chad’s house until 2 am! He did not enjoy his midnight toast of sparkling apple cider but did have so much fun playing downstairs during the party. This was the first year in maybe 10 years (?) that Jen and Chad did not hire babysitters. That is Quinn’s job now! We threw him a 20 at the end of the night!

Catie won!

Dallas, Makai, Halle, Brian

Maggie won (sort of) !

Past midnight we played a lot of rounds of LRC. It always seems like you won a TON of money, when really it’s like $16. Always love Jen and Chad’s party for it’s casualness and nothing like spending the new year with friend’s you’ve known for almost 15 years!

PS. If you were wondering, Dallas did wear The New Years Eve sweater!

Pizza Hut Connect Holiday Party ON A BOAT!

Andrew

Samantha

This year our Pizza Hut Connect Holiday party was on a river boat. But not just any boat, this boat had glass walls and a glass ceiling so you could take in all of the views as you floated around the Chicago River. I heard it was so new that it had been on less than two dozen voyages so far! Dallas went to the Cowboys vs. Bears game, so Kristin came along as my +1.

Chris, Esther

A bunch of the leadership team flew in from Plano and spoke briefly. Artie is the CEO of Pizza Hut and Carol is the CTO of Pizza Hut.

A lot of recognition awards were given out by different leaders. This is Laura, our HR Director, recognizing someone.

To my surprise, I was recognized by my boss’s boss, Chuck. I was literally taking a bite of my salmon, when I looked up and was like “uh, he’s talking about my team.” A few seconds later he called out my name to come to the front.

After dinner there was a lot of dancing! Members of my team, especially Kishore, pulled me out onto the dance floor! Jim, the owner of Quikorder, attended the party and he even got pulled out onto the dance floor!

After our 3-hour boat ride, everyone got off the boat and walked into River North to go out some more. I walked with them for a bit, but then got a ride home to relieve the babysitter (Ms. Lauren). Great time. So much fun hanging out with everyone outside of work. I wished I could have stayed out longer.. but then the next day I heard some people were out until the sun came up, so I was actually kind of glad for an excuse to go home!

Trent and Loden’s March Madness Visit

We were so happy that Trent, Loden, Ellyza, Sydney and Carter came to visit again for March Madness, like they did last year. This year was extra fun because they all stayed at our house! We loved having them around and having a house big enough to host a family of 5, but still not feel crazy or crowded! I hope this can be an annual tradition. And I also hope that we can make it down to Kentucky some time this year! We miss all of them like crazy!

Note: For future reference. This was the trip where Dallas and Trent spent 20 minutes at midnight one night trying to open the door to the neighbor’s house, not realizing it wasn’t our house. Then the neighbor sent us the Ring videos!
