Last night was our division’s holiday party at Trader Vic’s. I’d never been there before but I was kind of glad to go because it’s closing down in January. The Harry Carray restaurant group bought them and they’ll be relocating. In the space that’s Trader Vic’s now, in the Palmer House, there will be high-end shops not to accomodate tourists, but to support all the people that are moving downtown.
As you can see from the photos, everyone was pretty drunk and had a good time. And most everyone wore the coconut bra at some point during the night.

For the next week I’ll be house and catsitting in Chelsea for Michelle while she’s away on vacation in Washington (I’m telling you.. it’s a hot destination.. Joel was just there before me, Michelle now, and Eleanor is going soon too!). The cats are making my allergies act up even more than usual, but it’s worth it to have my own place for a week. Plus Chelsea is one of my favorite Manhattan neighborhoods. It’s fun to pretend I live there.
Thanks to Jess, Joel & Sarah, I am no longer a Boston virgin.
When we got home from Boston last night, the Grammy Awards ceremony was in full force at Madison Square Garden, which is right near Penn Station where the bus dropped us off. What a circus.
I’ve been hearing about it on the news, but last night I saw it for the first time – because we’re still on the second highest level of security alert for a terrorist attack, stationed at the entrance to the West 4th ACE subway station there were 4 police officers and 6 soldiers with machine gus. Made me feel so great to be back in the city. Bleh.
Joel‘s new favorite word is highfalootin and when he said it today it made me totally bust out and sing Ragtime Cowboy Joe, a song we used to sing at Parkview Elementary.
So, here I am at Dreamhost. I’m completely dumping Yahoo! Web Hosting as my site host. The recommendation for Dreamhost came so highly from Joel that Jess (jebdesigner.com) and I both signed up and both of our accounts were fully activated today. The package that we each purchased is for $9.95/month. That is less than what I was paying for my plan at Yahoo! and I get a whole lot more than I did there. Working with Network Solutions to transfer my domain and setting up my account at Dreamhost was 4,269 times easier than I thought it would be. Thank you to Joel and Mark for all of your help and tips during this process. Next up: implementing Movable Type. Just a warning, I’m sure I’ll be needing your help again, Joel and Mark.
