Green Bay Packers Breakfast Blitz

February 26th, 2010 · 2 Comments

One of the gifts I got in our crazy exchange at Kelly & Jeff’s was a 3-pack of Green Bay Packers Breakfast Blitz cereal. These are basically just knock offs of Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios and Frosted Flakes and taste pretty much the same as the name brand cereals. I found this article about Breakfast Blitz in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Breakfast cereal celebrates Packers’ 90th anniversary
By Doris Hajewski of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Sept. 10, 2009

The Green Bay Packers are commemorating their 90th anniversary with a breakfast cereal called Breakfast Blitz. The cereal is sold exclusively at Pick ‘n Save and Copps stores operated by Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc. in Wisconsin under a license agreement with the team.

The Packers are the fourth NFL team to have their own cereal, according to Craig Benzel, director of marketing for the team. They join the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals on the breakfast table.

The cereal licenses represent a departure from standard NFL licensing rules, which required a manufacturer to pay for an NFL license and make products for every team in the league, Benzel said. The NFL makes exceptions for certain products to be licensed for individual teams if they are sold in local markets, he said.

Kelly & Jeff’s Holiday Party

January 3rd, 2010 · No Comments

On the second day of the year 2010, we went up to De Pere (near Green Bay), WI for my cousin Kelly and her husband Jeff’s holiday party. I’d only been to their house one time before and Dallas had never been there so we were long overdue!

Kelly & Jeff

My parents, my brother’s family, Kelly’s mom my Aunt Sue, my other cousin Kelly and her daughter Katie, and my cousin Sara’s family all came over. Jeff made a big pot of chili and cornbread and Sara brought cornbread muffins as well. There were lots of dips and sweets to round the meal out. ha. Here’s a photo of my brother and sister-in-law since apparently I didn’t mention them at all the last time I saw them and it cannot be implied that they were present without proof. haha.

Richard & Amanda

Steph got a guitar for Christmas so she was practicing with a book. My Aunt Sue was also showing her how to do some things.

Margo is only about 3 months old.

I tried to take a photo of Jessica and Tessa, but it is hard.

This always happens:

Charlotte happily posed for a photo.

There was a fierce white elephant gift exchange. My dad got the first pick and opened something nobody wanted. It’s this annoying Packers toy dinosaur that dances and has blinking lights and plays the most annoying song on earth. This has been circling through our family for a while now.

Dad

Dallas got the Bodyguard soundtrack on cassette. Luckily Unfortunately, our car has a tape deck and we had a 3 hour ride home.

Dallas

Tessa really wanted to keep a hold of these granola bars in the swap. She may have cried the first time they got stolen away. I can’t remember who ended up with them. It was either Tessa or Sara.

After the gift exchange, we played a lot with the kids. Here’s my cousin Sara’s husband Cam and one of their twins, Fiona, I think :) .

Intense round of the fish game, except in the princess edition I think they catch jewels.

Fun day. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we had a long drive home. Luckily there was no traffic and the roads were clear. Can’t wait for next year’s swap. We have some junk lovely gifts to give away!

Heather & Jeff’s New Years Day Party

January 2nd, 2010 · No Comments

Every year Dallas’s cousin Jeff and his wife Heather host a New Years Day party for all of their family and friends. Some years we haven’t always made it because sometimes we’re just too hung over, but the past few years we have gotten older more responsible less fun, and have made the party. Even hungover, it’s an easy party. We do a lot of this:

And some of this:

And eat a lot. Every year Dallas’s aunts and cousins make homemade maki sushi, cone sushi, pork shumai, sashimi, somen, mochi soup, Hawaiian chicken salad, char siu, ribs, chicken, and all kinds of stuff. So, sit around.. and eat. I can do that!

Last year Dallas wasn’t able to attend the Roundarch holiday party because he was traveling for work. This year he was able to go and we had a great time. The event took place at the Griffin Lounge and reminded me of the Google holiday party a few years back at Manor. Those dance clubs in River North are all kind of similar. We rented the whole place out and had it til around 11, at which time the regulars started coming in and we decided to call it a night. I’d meant to take a lot of photos and only ended up with these random few. I guess I was having too good of a time socializing!

Also check out John’s photos of the holiday party.

Family Visit to Chicago

August 24th, 2009 · 1 Comment

This past weekend we had a bunch of my family down from Wisconsin for a visit to Chicago. My cousin Kelly, Jeff, Tessa and Charlotte came on Friday night and stayed over til Saturday. My parents and my Aunt Sue arrived on Saturday and stayed over til Sunday. My brother Richard, Amanda, Jessica, and Stephanie came down for the day on Saturday. We hung around on the roof deck, played bags, had a barbecue, and went to Palmer Square park. After a lot of people left, my dad and I played Mario Karts on the Wii and my mom and I and Dallas played Tetris on the Wii. Sunday morning my parents and my aunt and I went to brunch at Dunlay’s on the Square and then walked through the Logan Square Farmers Market. It was fun to have everyone down for a visit!

These photos are from Palmer Square. Except the last one of Charlotte, who didn’t go to the park. She wasn’t feeling well on Saturday but we did manage to get a few smiles out of her.

Mom, Dad. Think dad is giving the finger on purpose. Kelly was trying to pose them & make them kiss. Not sure why.

Kelly (due for baby #3 in a month!) and Rachelle. We kind of have WTF faces. My brother was taking the photo.
