The photo? No reason, I just like it.

I have 2,043 songs on my iPod and I’m sick of about 2,034 of them. What are you listening to? Tell me! Doesn’t have to be new releases, just a favorite to you and new to me.

My iPod’s 1 Year Birthday

November 4th, 2004 · 12 Comments

Today my iPod turns 1 year old. It’s kind of strange because it’s one of those things that has so much become a part of my lifestyle that I don’t even know what I did without it.

Right after I bought my 10 gig iPod Apple replaced it with a 15 gig model for the same price. That kind of peeved me, since I filled up 10 gigs like nothing.

In May, I had to replace the headphones that came with it. I got the in-ear style but I don’t really like them. Other than that, it’s been a great year.

New Headphones

Headphones

Yesterday the song Bootylicious came on my iPod and the bass was rattling so badly in my right ear bud that I couldn’t even hear the song. So last night I finally bought some new headphones. These are Apple’s in-ear model.

Confession: Since I returned from vacation I have been cheating on rachelleb.com and writing daily for another site. Until that site is officially launched and I get into a groove, updates here will be sporadic.

I’m back from Hawaii and feeling depressed. Im so not ready to deal with everyday, normal things like mail and work. I just want to be back in the pool with everyone sipping fruity drinks. Kristin and I keep calling each other just bitching about how much it sucks to be back.

The travel time on this trip was killer, but worth it once I was there. My first leg of the trip was from Chicago to Los Angeles. I was really stressed out from work and just wanted to sit back on the flight and relax. Instead I got to sit back on the flight and be pushed to the verge of tears as a little kid behind me kicked my seat every 5 seconds for 3 hours. Finally, I couldn’t take it any more so I switched seats. I was moved next to the loudest snorer on earth, but at least I could throw my iPod on and forget he existed.

My first glimpse of California since I moved away from it in 2001 was through the dirty windows of LAX. Seeing the names of the California cities on the departure/arrival screens and seeing branches of local Southern California restaurants in the airport made me so homesick for it. I bought a big box of See’s lollipops. The next leg of my trip was from Los Angeles to Honolulu. In the Honolulu airport there was a beautiful little garden that again made me homesick for California because there were many Birds of Paridise planted and I used to clip them from my San Diego apartment courtyard and have them in a vase in my house. It was strange at first how things in Hawaii were making me homesick for California. All of the lush flowers and trees, the Gordon Biersch beer, the Jeep Wrangler we rented.

The last leg of the trip was from Honolulu to Lihue, Kaua’i, where Kristin, Dallas, Rob & Cousin picked me up. Later on Sarah flew in. First thing to do when you get to Hawaii – get lei’d.

Mahalo to Tien for manning the fort while I was away.

A Trip to the Apple Store

I love the Apple Store in SoHo so when Eric and Ted said they were leaving to go there after work I tagged along. I wanted to check out the in-ear headphones and the iPod Minis but they didn’t have either of them in stock. I also was looking at iTrip, which I’m interested in getting if I end up moving myself to Chicago. Eric was looking at new laptops. Ted purchased SimCity 4 and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

I am in denial right now about my new position/boss requiring me to work on a PC laptop.
