Yesterday I went with Amy, Scott, Jen, and Adam to see the horses race at Arlington Park. I hadn’t been to a horse racing park for about 5 years when I went to Del Mar in California so it was cool to check it out again. Most everything was the same but at Del Mar I don’t remember betting at all and this time I placed $2 bets on several different horses in different races throughout the day.

One race I picked who I thought would win but then was tracking down an ATM and lunch so I missed placing my bet. Of course, the horse I wanted placed 2nd. Then once I said who I thought but just didn’t bet and that horse won. Finally I got a payout on the last race of the day. I placed two separate $2 bets on that race on one of the horses I picked came in first. I won $8.80.

Overall, I came out only slightly ahead, but at least I wasn’t in the hole!

Every day for almost a year and a half I walked past this horse on my way to and from work and not one of those days did I notice it .. until one day recently. I looked up and there it was. It literally stopped me in my tracks. From that day on I became somewhat obsessed with looking at the horse and paying tribute in my mind to it as I walked by. It is so curious and interesting. I couldn’t imagine what it was doing on this building in my neighborhood. I told Jess about it.. and then one day I made her walk past it. Upon seeing it she immediately came to the conclusion that the building was once a stable. Which makes complete sense, don’t you think?

On Monday after breakfast & before my parents caught a cab to go to the airport, we went on a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park. The park was gorgeous. Bright sun, warm temperature, and colorful foliage. I have plenty more photos of Central Park from this weekend, I just need to get through them all. Expect more photos soon.
