Cinco de Mayo is also our anniversary, so we always go out and most of the time try to go to a Mexican restaurant. This year we went to Adobo Grill in Wicker Park. Last year we went out for sushi, I think, and the year before we went to Topolobampo. I just came across these photos I never published so I thought I’d post them.

Yesterday I was in Wisconsin to help celebrate my niece Jessica’s 4th birthday. It was a quick trip because I had to get back for another party, but still a fun time. Now that Kelly and Jeff are living in Wisconsin, they were able to drive down with Tessa and join in. Too bad my mom had foot surgery on Friday and my parents couldn’t make the trip. Next time! Jessica was just as shy and coy as ever even though Dallas couldn’t go because he was just flying in from a business trip later that day. Usually she’s unusually shy around him, but I guess she’s like that around just about anyone, not just him.

Every year my mom comes down and we have dinner and go see some sort of show. I usually treat the show tickets for her birthday and she usually gets dinner.. just because that’s what moms do? This year was delayed a month or so just because our schedules weren’t matching up. There weren’t a ton of “big” shows that were playing that we wanted to see, so we opted for Blue Man Group. Neither of us had ever seen it. I thought it was fun. It reminded me of Stomp a lot (I saw it twice) .. the style of it and the small theater.

Last year and the year before we saw Wicked and Mama Mia. When I lived in Wisconsin we did sort of the same thing, without the stay overnight part, and went to a Lorie Line concert and saw Riverdance.

The next day we went out for brunch at Kitsch’n . The Belgian waffles were plated in a way that reminded me of summer.. or maybe just Hawaii with the flower. Then we went shopping all day.

Last week I posted some Halloween photos from Daley Plaza and joked that they’d have the holiday tree up by the next day. It wasn’t the next day, but yesterday I walked by and there are tons of trees there, just not up yet.
