I had pretty much given up hope of ever getting a copy of this, but today I was surprised by a package in the mail. Back in August, The Oregonian purchased the rights to use a photo that I took in Hoboken, NJ for a piece they were doing in their travel section. This was the second time I had that same photo published, actually.
Update: I just noticed that this is actually the same exact article that was in the Washington Post. Weird. I never realized. I definitely negotiated the use of the photos separately.

I came across these photos of Jess’s apartment from earlier this year. No matter what tiny space she has in New York or New Jersey or Boston, she always manages to fully utilize every inch and to do it in a way that’s both stylish and serene, classic with a touch of trend. She definitely has her own vibe. I’ll see things to this day and think “oh, that’s so Jess.” And if she can’t find exactly what she wants, she’ll make it. Like the desk in this photo, or the things she sews. While Jess isn’t a cheapskate, living in the NY Metro area is expensive and you always have to look for economical ways of doing things. She always succeeds in finding the perfect thing for the right price and having it look like way more than she paid. Sometimes if I don’t know how to organize something or how to decorate I try to imagine what Jess would say, because she’s come over and made me unpack/pack/decorate/organize more than once. She’s lucky we live to far apart now or I’d have her over here working right now!

This was a while ago – July – but still exciting. The Washington Post purchased a photograph I took in Hoboken to accompany a story for their travel section. It ran both in print and online (page 1 2 3).
Also, as I mentioned earlier, I sold a photo from that same set to Time Out Chicago Kids. A day in the sun laying around reading The Historian turned out to be profitable!
