Grillin’ Burgers

Triple Bacon Burger

Danny and Caroline had people over on July 5th to help them drink their leftover beer and wine from their wedding. Danny got a new grill as a wedding gift and used it to make us triple bacon burgers.

Bacon 1: Danny ground the meat himself and with it he included a pound of bacon.
Bacon 2: Danny made a sauce for on top of the burgers that was made from caramelized onions and bacon.
Bacon 3: Crispy strips of bacon on top of the burger.

On my bun top you can also see homemade sweet and spicy pickles, along with some garlic aioli that he whipped together.

We also got to meet Danny and Caroline’s latest family addition, Duff. He’s a yellow lab mix that they adopted on their honeymoon in South Carolina. Yes, he barks with a southern accent.

Also, it is good to know that it really does only take us 15 – 20 minutes to drive to Oak Park, not like the 50 minutes it took us to get to their wedding in Oak Park on Puerto Rican pride day.

Tropical Burger, Roscoe Village, Chicago

Last night we had a few people over to watch the Lost season finale. We grilled out and had these tropical burgers with a slice of grilled pineapple, grilled onion, tomato, and lettuce. I don’t know why my bun was upside down.

I was afraid to go to In-N-Out because I used to love it when I lived in San Diego, but I haven’t had it since I moved away from there in 2001 and I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to my memory. Man am I relieved that it was just as good as I remembered. I just love the fresh ingredients and the quality of the food compared to other fast-food burger chains. Can’t be beat!

Wild Goose
Daily Specials at the Wild Goose, North Center, Chicago

Last night we went to the Wild Goose for some cheap food, drinks and Game 7 of the Red Sox/Yankees series. Killian and I each had a bowl of chili and Dallas had a burger and fries. Total cost of dinner for three, excluding drinks: $2. Killian picked up the bill. He’s a high roller like that.

The awesome, awesome Adam was kind enough to open up his Park Slope garden on Monday and grill up some pizzas for us. They tasted great. The dough was nice and soft inside and crispy outside. Perfect. Each pizza had varying toppings like basil, Portobello, pepperoni, grated mozzarella, fresh mozzarella, garlic, hot peppers. Adam took requests and even made some without cheese for lactose-intolerant Jake. The last pizza we made for desert was butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar sprinkled on grilled peaches.

I’m pretty sure Adam needs to get out of the corporate world and open up a grilled pizza restaurant.
