I thought it was strange that in the same Peapod order some of my bananas were from Guatemala and some were from Honduras.

Next Week Is Going to Be a Good Week

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever, but Nancy and Josh are finally going to go to Guatamala next week to pick up our little Riley. They’ll leave on Monday or Tuesday and be home in time to spend the weekend with her. And lucky Nancy will be off of work on “maternity leave” until well into December.
Josh and Nancy asked me to be one of Riley’s sponsors. Of course I said “yes, I’d be honored.” Riley will be my second goddaughter, my first being my niece Stephanie. This photo was taken of Riley on August 25th. She was 3 1/2 months old.

Nancy and Josh got more photos of Riley this week. She’s 5 weeks old and still very tiny! Her hair is making me laugh. I bet she’s going to have beautiful, thick hair when she’s older.

Saturday I went up to Wisconsin for the day. Nancy and Josh are adopting and we knew it could be any day that they get the news that a baby is available for them, so in preparation Nancy’s family threw a shower for her. The big surprise was that just last Tuesday they were told that a baby girl in Guatemala is theirs. It will be a few months before they can go down and get her but this is such great news. Nancy and Josh have wanted children for so long and have tried so hard to have their own… I’m so happy they will finally have a baby, and one that is in desperate need of a good home. I can’t wait to meet Riley!
