Bacon Bread @ Blue Ribbon Bakery
Bacon Bread, Blue Ribbon Bakery, Greenwich Village, New York

This bread at Blue Ribbon Bakery had bacon in it. Any bread with bacon in it is good in my book.

We also shared mushroom ravioli, an endive & watercress salad, and a barbecue pork sandwich. Everything was so great. Usually when I’m back in The Village I want to eat at The Grey Dog, but this time we decided to go to Blue Ribbon Bakery. I used to live on the same block as it and yet I’ve only been there once before and it was just before I moved to Chicago. I should have gone more. It’s always most excellent. Here’s a photo I took of the outside of the bakery once too.

The Grey Dog’s Coffee, West Village, Manhattan

After walking around Chinatown and the Village all morning, I was tired and starving so I went to my favorite cafe right around the corner from my old apartment on Carmine Street, The Grey Dog’s Coffee. The food is great, the service is awesome and I just love the ambiance. Only complaint is that it’s always busy and the day I was there they were playing Franz Ferdinand a little too loud.

Joel’s Visit, Jess’s Holiday Party

Kirara Sushi, West Village, Manhattan

Thanks Joel for coming down to the city and sharing this bounty of sushi with me on Saturday night. It was delicious. And the Comedy Cellar was so much fun!

Jess’s Apartment, East Village, Manhattan

Tonight Jess and her roommate, Raed, had a holiday tree trimming party. It was really chill and mellow. Maybe because the spiked cider and spiked eggnog was steadily flowing. Very cool.

The Grey Dog, West Village, Manhattan

Weirdest thing: On the way home from the party I walked by The Grey Dog and it was toilet papered. WTF?

Singing Praises of The Grey Dog (Again)

December 10th, 2002 · 1 Comment

Let me just say again how much I love The Grey Dog. Tonight I went in and ordered a bowl of chili to go. The waitress says it’s $5.40. I open my wallet. Hmmm.. only 4 dollar bills. I dig deeper. And 2 quarters. I tell her that I’d.. uh.. like to change my order to a cup of soup instead.. that I’m a little short. She asks “how much do you have?” I tell her “$4.50.” So she says, “that’s good enough”. Oh my! I do love The Grey Dog!!! :)

The Grey Dog

I’m addicted to The Grey Dog. I find myself there 3 or more times per week! The sandwiches and salads are huge and yummy, the prices are reasonable, and the interior has a good vibe that I can’t really explain.
