Is This Lavender?

Jess gave us this plant for a housewarming gift almost 3 years ago. It took me a while to figure out where exactly it likes to sit, but this year I think I finally have it. It likes almost full sun. So, what is it? Is it lavender? I always thought lavender would have a scent, but I haven’t noticed it with this one. Also this photo was taken in June.. that’s when it blooms. I noticed at Jen’s house that their lavender was blooming in July.

QR Codes at Home Depot

I’ve been to the Home Depot a few times in the last month while preparing our deck and patio for the summer. In the garden department every plant has a QR code that you can snap with your phone to get more information about the plant and how to grow it. Came in real handy while trying to decide what to buy! Now, if only Home Depot would also get free wireless to speed the whole thing along a bit!

Green Peppers From My Roof Garden

One Seed Chicago

One Seed Chicago is a project whose goal is to engage current gardeners and create new gardeners and make Chicago more green by growing gardens across the City. If you go to the One Seed Chicago website, you can vote for your favorite seed and they’ll send you the seeds for free in the mail. I forgot I even signed up for this, and can’t remember how I even heard about it, until my seeds came in the mail. I just checked and the seeds are still available, so if you live in Chicago, head on over and request your seeds. We could all benefit from Chicago being a little more green!

Farmers Market Garden Center

I visited the Farmers Market Garden Center today and have a bit of planting to do on the patio and deck tomorrow. I went to the center last year too. I like it better than something like the Home Depot garden center. Seems to be better quality and not too expensive.
