I played a trial of the full-version of Zuma at PlayFirst months ago.. and now I’m playing it again. You can play Zuma online for free, or download the full version (free trial, then $20). Basically, all you do is shoot a ball from the frogs mouth and match up colors of balls before they advance to the skeleton’s mouth.. but it’s really addictive.

On Saturday night about 30 people all crammed into PaulBaker’s tiny apartment in the name of Rock Band and celebrating PaulBaker’s 30th birthday. We have Rock Band at work and it’s fun to play there, but even more fun to play with so many different people and while drinking beer and eating some delicious food.

Scrabulous

February 8th, 2008 · 4 Comments

The other night Dallas and I were watching TV and all these people were singing some song called “Fabulous.” Neither of us knew it. We just looked at each other and acknowledged that we’re now officially old people.*

The very next day I came across this parody of the song called “Scrabulous,” which is awesome. And since I don’t know the original song, I just have the Scrabulous song in my head all the time. The best line is “L,T, S and R ain’t going to get you very far. J, Z, Q, Dub that’s the stuff you gotta love.”

Scrabulous on Facebook was a good friend to me when I had my surgery. If they get shut down I’m going to cry. I am not very good, but I like to play, so if you’re on FaceBook and want a guaranteed win, challenge me.

* John just told me Fergie sings “Fabulous.”

A Couple Days in Mesquite, Nevada

After flying into Las Vegas and eating dinner we drove to Mesquite, Nevada, located near the Nevada/Arizona/Utah border. Mesquite is a really small desert town that has doubled in size in the last 5 years due to two casino resorts and a bunch of golfing in the area. The mountains and desert are beautiful, but other than golfing and gambling, there’s not much else to do.

Dallas and his parents and his brother Jordan golfed on Thursday and Friday. Dallas’ sister Caroline and I stayed back and just hung out. We stayed at the Casablanca and I tried to learn to play video keno and poker, watched a lot of football, played some slots and tried to enjoy the mild weather. I’m really not a big gambler. I could practically last all day on $20, just sitting at a machine, watching TV and getting free drinks. Really, there wasn’t much to do, though. A few ideas I did have (go to the movies, go to the salon) were shot down because they were closed for the holiday.

I watched Dallas play craps a lot. I got some of the lingo down (“six the hard way!” “horn high yo!”) and after a while got to figuring out what was going on. I’d never read about or watched craps before this trip and it can be confusing, but I think I want to read up on it now to understand what all was going on.

On Thursday we had Thanksgiving dinner at the Casablanca casino buffet. Very nontraditional, but every Thanksgiving dish we could wish for was there in any quantity we wanted!
