Yesterday I had to go downtown so I met up with Alden and Jessica to celebrate Potbelly Wednesday on a Tuesday. Jess made a comment when we walked into Potbelly that inside it “smells like FeedBurner.” I couldn’t agree more. We went to Potbelly every week when I worked at FeedBurner and the smell and memory will be tied together for a very long time.

After Alden and Jessica went back to work (ha ha) I went to try out Berry Chill, which is our version of Pinkberry. I visited Pinkberry once while visiting New York back in November and really liked it. I couldn’t remember exactly where Berry Chill was so I just used Google SMS to figure it out.
Berry Chill is basically the same as Pinkberry. The inside is set up the same. You order on the right, slide to the left past the toppings, pay and pick up your order on the left. There are very few tables inside and a couple outside. I accidentally got the pistachio yogurt, which is the only one with fat in it. For toppings I got raspberries, almonds and mini chocolate chips. I didn’t taste the tanginess that I remember in the Pinkberry yogurt, but it may have been because I got a flavored yogurt and not the original. I’ll have to go back! Too bad it’s way down on State & Ontario.

One thing I liked about Berry Chill is that they used plastic, reusable dishes and spoons. Nicer to eat with and better for the environment. Also, the spoon changed color when it got cold.

Pinkberry, Chelsea, New York

Pinkberry, Chelsea, New York
I’ve heard a lot about Pinkberry, mostly from reading gossip and food blogs and LAist, since it’s supposedly all the rage with the celebrity set. Also, we’ve written about Pinkberry on Chicagoist because stores are supposed to be opening here. Not like I can wait. There was a Pinkberry across the street from my corporate apartment and Jeannette and Jessica were nice enough to indulge my request to go.
Pinkberry is more rich and sour than the other frozen yogurt I’ve had. Jess and I were addicted to Tasty D Lite when I lived in New York. It was cheap with multiple locations and virtually guilt-free. If I still lived in New York, I’m sure I’d be springing for the Pinkberry now and then even though there aren’t as many locations, it’s more expensive and there is controversy over whether it even is frozen yogurt. I liked that they had lots of fresh fruit available for toppings. And mochi. And I also liked that they spelled my name right when I told it to them for my order.

Tonight in my bedroom while wearing my pajamas and eating from a pint of Häagen-Dazs frozen yogurt I filled out my tax forms online at turbotax.com.
