Fire Engine
Tribeca, Manhattan

Fire Alarm: “BeepBeepBeepBeep”
Mysterious Voice on the PA: “Can I have your attention please!? We have received a signal.. from.. the roof.”
Mark: “The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!”
Fire Engine: “WhooWhoop”

We did evacuate, but luckily it was a false alarm. Under an orange, high-threat security alert, it was more than a little stressful. That, and the fact that our office vending machines have been out of both Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke for more than a week, has got everyone on edge.

Firestarters

Jessica and I are firestarters. On Monday night we were in restaurant and right next door there was a fire. We sat and ate our burritos while we watched the firefighters rush in and out. Tonight we shared a cab. At my stop the entire block on 9th Avenue between 49th and 48th is blocked off. Fire trucks, ambulances, police.. the smell of burning in the air. A building at the end of my block is on fire.
