A Wisconsin Barbecue and Family Reunion

August 15th, 2013 · 4 Comments

Dallas and I, along with my brother and his family, headed up to my parent’s house in Greenville for the weekend. While we were all visiting, my parents invited all of our relatives over for a huge barbecue. I hadn’t seen a lot of people for years and surprisingly, many of them hadn’t seen each other for as long, as well. Six of my mom’s seven siblings were able to attend, as well as a ton of my cousins, cousin’s kids and a good amount of family on my dad’s side, too.

All of my cousin’s kids had a great time playing in the little stream/ditch in the way back yard. This is my Aunt Deb, Cousin Amanda, and Niece Jessica with Noah, Oliver, Ella, Brianna, Elise and Fiona.

There were a bunch of frogs in there and the kids were going crazy catching them!! These were all of my cousin’s kids: Sierra, Brianna, Elise, Noah, Brianna (there are 2! Actually, 3 if you count Brianne, who wasn’t there.), Ella, Collin, Fiona, Keegan, Oliver.

Dallas was joking that you know you’re in Wisconsin when you see this many crock pots lined up! Also when you designate which sausage is “skinless”?

Keegan and his brother Collin are my cousin Anna’s boys. They’re twins, and so are my cousin Sara’s daughters, Fiona and Elise. Keegan and Dallas played this washer toss game many times and Keegan won most games. The 10 beers Dallas had by that point kind of leveled the playing field!

Jess was having a hard time roasting marshmallows with Milo and Dakoda trying to bite the end of her stick.

I was pretty sore from the long drive two days in a row, but it was totally worth it to see everyone. Hopefully we can do it again next summer and it won’t be YEARS before everyone sees each other again!

Birthday Barbecue

September 9th, 2012 · 4 Comments

For my birthday we had a barbecue. Everyone ate too much and drank too much and had a great time!

Richard pretending to photobomb Dallas, Killian and Ed.

Jill visiting with Liz while Dallas tried to get Fiona.

Raiden is just a few months younger than Fiona. They’re both so big compared to when I last saw each of them!

Feedburners reuinite! Chris, Paul, Lisa, Kate, Rachelle. Alden shouldn’t be so late or he misses out on photo ops like this!

Dallas grilled up a ton of kalbi. We thought we had way too much but people were fighting for the last rib! We also made about five pounds of slow cooked pork with Dallas’s famous blue cheese coleslaw.

Richard and Ed stealing ribs fresh off the grill!

Kate and Brett.

Dinner!

Dylan and Quinn making forts on the couch.

Could Fiona’s eyes be bluer? Just like her mom.

Chris and Lisa brought this Achatz Handmade Pie. Grant Achatz did not make this pie, but his cousin did.

This was the crumb-topped Michigan 4-berry pie, their signature pie. They use locally grown tart cherries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. It was so delicious. Chris said pie is a family tradition. He and Lisa also gifted me a pretty pair of earrings that I wore to work on Monday. They are so nice and thoughtful friends.

Ed (chef/owner of The Baked Escape) also brought some delicious desserts – white chocolate raspberry swirl cheesecake and caramel pumpkin pound cake!

And here is Ed making Rory cry.

Killian gave me Easy Feet! I don’t know if he’s implying I’m too old to bend over and wash properly or if I have super nasty toes! According to the infomercial, “it’s like a carwash for your feet!”

Me with Andy and Katie.

And Alden!

And Trent and Loden!

Trent was digging around in the cupboard for shot glasses and I busted out laughing when I saw he was using a votive for a shot glass!!! Gotta do what you gotta do!

Loden, Kelly, Brett, Rachelle.

Time for bed!!! (Thanks, Damian for the wine and this Askinosie chocolate bar!)

Fiona’s First Birthday

February 27th, 2012 · No Comments

Fiona’s Birthday Cake

She was definitely interested!

While all the cake-cutting action was going on, she was stuffing her face with cake! So cute.

Steve & Raiden

Bradley University Classmates: Killian, Kristin, Eric, Dallas, Suzi, Steve (with Fiona)

Raiden again. He’s so cute.

Eric & Suzi’s baby, Kal. He is about one and a half and all over the place. Hard to get a photo!

Fiona was born on our wedding day and right away we told Killian and Liz that we’d never forget how old she is, but we also might never be able to go to her birthday parties! Well, they pulled a switcheroo and had her birthday party on Saturday evening instead of Sunday, so we were able to attend. A bunch of Dallas’s classmates from college, Killian being one of them, were at the party and it was nice to visit with them. Also, Killian and Liz just moved into a beautiful new place and it was good to finally see it. Fiona loved her cake, which was from Dinkel’s (the best! I got Dallas a birthday cake there once).

Keeping with the birthday theme, after Fiona’s birthday party, we went out for dinner at Fork for Kristin’s birthday. By the way, we really liked that place. Delicious food and pretty reasonably priced, too.
