I have always shied away from Chuck Palahniuk’s books. I don’t know why. I’ve heard some of them are really good.. even this book. I wanted to read it for a long time.. when my brother gave it to me it sat around my house for literally years before I read it.

I thought Fight Club was a good book. I’d already seen the movie, so I knew certain elements that probably made the book less enjoyable to read than for someone who never read the book or saw the movie. I still liked it though.

And I made it through a Palahniuk book. Gruesome at times, but done. Now I can read his book Choke, which I’ve been hearing is really good as well. It’s being made into a movie right now so I better hurry up, lest that story be spoiled for me as well!

Fight ClubMy favorite quotes from Fight Club:

Narrator: This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time.

Tyler Durden: You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

Narrator: On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Tyler Durden: We are a generation of men raised by women. I’m beginning to wonder if another woman is what we really need.

Tyler Durden: We were raised on television to believe that we’d all be millionares, movie gods, rock stars, but we won’t. And we’re starting to figure that out.

Tyler Durden: Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate, so we can buy shit we don’t need.

Rachelle: And let me just say… Fight Club is an amazing movie. Nothing what I expected. It’s not Brad Pitt, it’s Ed Norton and it’s not fighting, it’s a reflection on society and being unsatisfied with the status quo.
