Call in a little late for work? Check! Stand on line for 40 minutes? Check! Stand in the rain on that line for 10 of the minutes? Check!

Today was the opening of Fannie May on Michigan and Wacker. The first 500 people got a free pound of Pixies (valued at $18.95 on their website). On the corner of Wacker and Michigan employees were handing out free squares of chocolates to passers by. The box of truffles was given to people at the front of the line. The individual truffles were being handed out inside the store.

Everyone in these photos wearing a red shirt is an official employee of Fannie May. The guy selling StreetWise was an unofficial employee for the day. He walked up and down policing the line to make sure no one butt in. When the store officially opened at 10 he walked down the line telling everyone “Fannie May is officially open” and, of course, “Don’t forget to buy Street Wise on your way out!”

Oh yeh, I also got more free White Hen coffee this morning too.
