This makes me feel old. And is probably one of the only things I don’t like about my neighborhood bar, Cole’s.

Yesterday we went to Wisconsin to go to my little brother’s 30th birthday party. Not so little! There were lots of family and friends. Lots of kids, actually, running around everywhere. We ate tons of food and desserts and drank a lot of beer. For some reason he got a lot of beer as gifts. We brought him Fat Tire and Oberon, two beers he can’t get in Wisconsin. We also got him an Amazon gift certificate. I thought he’d get a lot of gag gifts, but there was just one: a box of Just For Men hair dye from our cousin Kelly. All the other gifts were really nice. After the party died down a bit, the people who were left all played Rock Band, which was a gift from my sister-in-law, Amanda. My brother’s best friend, Brian, bought this random bag of liquor that we were drinking shots of later on. .. or at least I was, Dallas was our DD. It should also be noted that my brother has been growing his beard out for the month of November. You can track it on Facebook if you are his friend.
Question for Photographers: Does anyone know why my flash is throwing such a harsh shadow? Is it something I need to adjust on my camera? Or something that can only be fixed by getting an external flash? I don’t remember it being so bad before, but now it is making be crazy.

Mark Zuckerberg & Sarah Lacey, SXSW, Austin, TX
So, about Zuckerberg. I keep getting asked… Yes, I was there, 5th row, center when Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was interviewed by Sarah Lacey. Yes, it was bad. I think actually being in the audience you could feel the swell and then the explosion. Others have told me that they watched the video and it didn’t seem like a big deal, but I think when you are there in person you hear and see a lot that the video didn’t get. People cursing the interviewer, FaceBook developers talking back to users at the mic, audience members in the back yelling “Talk about something interesting.” All of it lead up to the moment when the crowd erupted and cheered and yelled “YOU SUCK!” at the interviewer.
I think part of the problem was that no one knew who Sarah Lacey was, no one knew she was a journalist with BusinessWeek, no one knew that she knew Mark Zuckerberg and wrote a book about him. They just saw her pimping her book and telling personal stories about Zucks and were like “who the hell is this lady?” 2 minutes of intro in the beginning could have solved some of that. Of course it didn’t help that she also seemed really flirty and cut him off a lot and didn’t really ask questions as much as make statements a bunch of times. Also, Zuckerberg isn’t known for talking a lot or being a good interview. In the end it was the perfect storm.
In six panels, this is pretty much what happened:
The other night Dallas and I were watching TV and all these people were singing some song called “Fabulous.” Neither of us knew it. We just looked at each other and acknowledged that we’re now officially old people.*
The very next day I came across this parody of the song called “Scrabulous,” which is awesome. And since I don’t know the original song, I just have the Scrabulous song in my head all the time. The best line is “L,T, S and R ain’t going to get you very far. J, Z, Q, Dub that’s the stuff you gotta love.”
Scrabulous on Facebook was a good friend to me when I had my surgery. If they get shut down I’m going to cry. I am not very good, but I like to play, so if you’re on FaceBook and want a guaranteed win, challenge me.
* John just told me Fergie sings “Fabulous.”
