Must Be 25

Must Be 25Last night our den mother, Frank, took us to Dublin 6 for drinks. We were teasing Jessie because he was leaving to go to some club and he said that no one under 25 is allowed inside. And then JZ, Alden and I went over to White Horse Tavern and this was the sign we saw. “Proper ID proving 25 years of age required for admission.” I was secretly hoping JZ would get carded, not because I didn’t want him to get in, but just to see how it would go down. He’s old enough to drink legally, but not old enough to go to White Horse Tavern.

We imagined that the policy was set so they don’t accidentally make a right turn and end up with a really young annoying crowd there, but at lunch today we were having a good discussion about the legality of it. Is it possible to say people under 25 can’t enter because they’re a private business? And then what if they said people of a certain race or religion couldn’t enter? Wouldn’t that be illegal? How is it different?

A few unique beers I had while out on Thursday night. Frank took us out to Dublin6 to have some drinks with the design staff. A lot of people from FeedBurner joined as well as some friends of people who worked at FeedBurner. I had the Smuttynose IPA and the Flying Dog there. The Smuttynose was kind of similar to like a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I didn’t care for the Flying Dog, it was too hoppy. The bar had given it to me for free, so I guess nothing was lost.

Later on we were kicked out of the room we were in at Dublin6 because a bachelorette party was starting in there. So we left and went to The Other Room and that’s where I had the Lagunitas Pilsner. I liked it a lot.
