This week I am in New York for the Web 2.0 Expo. I flew out on Saturday and stayed with Jess out in Hoboken. We had a packed weekend, but I didn’t get to see Jess last time I was here and I was happy to come out early and see friends before the conference started.
On Saturday evening Kathy and Stephanie came over and we had wine and cheese at Jess’s apartment. It was really delicious, but the most impressive part is that Jess has been taking pottery classes and MADE all of these serving dishes and bowls.

After a bit of wine and cheese we headed into the city to meet up with Jeanette for dinner at Ditch Plains. Jess had eaten a great dinner there recently so we all decided to try it. Walking to the restaurant was kind of bizarro because it’s located less than a half a block from the apartment where I lived for years. Everything mostly looked the same, except that this restaurant, I swear, used to be a shady trannie bar! Now it’s gorgeous inside. The menu is a bit strange. It seemed like one owner wanted to do comfort food (hotdogs, mac & cheese, sloppy joes) and one wanted to do seafood (4 kinds of mussels, seafood stew) so they just did both. Everything we had was very good.

On the way home I noticed this Path train ad above Kathy’s head. Who decided that night was the night to ditch grandma’s drug stash?
