Getting blurry! Kidding. I was messing with John’s external flash.

Thursday night was our Roundarch client team holiday party and Friday night was our company holiday party. The company party was at Blue Water Grill, where Dallas and I went once for my birthday. We thought it was good, but overpriced. But when you’re company is paying for you to eat and drink for free all night, you kind of just concentrate on the yum factor. We had a full dinner, but I really liked the free maki station they had going on. I could have skipped the dinner and just eaten that all night! They also had the largest shrimp cocktail I’ve ever seen. So delicious.

Dallas is in West Palm Beach for work this weekend so I made a pact with my coworker Ryan that we would leave early. He had another party to go to and I wanted to call it a night at about 9:00 p.m. because the cookie party was on Saturday. The pact didn’t really work out. I think we were drinking too much and having too much fun to leave. There were secret ninjas refilling my wine glass when I wasn’t looking and we didn’t end up leaving until 12:30 a.m. I don’t know how long the party went on, but that was 6 1/2 hours of free booze and I had way more than my fair share!

Last night was Kristin’s surprise 30th birthday party at Ginbucks. Twenty bucks gotcha all the drinks you wanted for like 3 hours. I think every person that Kristin knows in Chicago was there.

Last night Corie, David, Dahlia, Tien and I got together for a big ‘ol rice-o-rama. First we went to dinner at Rice (no photos), which is a restaurant where nearly everything on the menu has rice in it. The cuisine in the entrees are eclectic mix of everything from Mexican to Thai to Malaysian. I had miso soup, pad thai (rice noodles!) and a Pacifico. For dessert, to take home for later, I ordered.. what else?… rice krispy treats! They come in some really cute packaging and were really good the last time I was at Rice so I couldn’t pass it up.

To continue on the rice theme, for dessert we went to Rice to Riches, a restaurant that serves over 20 flavors of rice pudding. Rice pudding is something I decided I hated when I was a little kid and never tried again but I was willing to give it another shot. I got two flavors, Caramel Yogurt Crackdown and Hazelnut Chocolate Bear Hug. I thought they were pretty tasty but our serving size was a bit more than I could handle so I took about half of it home. (I walked home from Nolita [North of Little Italy] to the West Village in the freezing cold and wind [yes, I am insane] and half expected the pudding to be frozen when I got there but it wasn’t.)

Rice to Riches is really going to stand out in my mind for a long time. The design of their store and presentation of their product is really thought through well and is carried out in every minute detail, down to the sign in the restroom telling employees to wash their hands before going back to work. When you walk in you feel like you’re in some sort of weird Jetsons/70′s lounge. The the booths have tables that hang from the ceiling, 3 flat-screen panels display cute animations as well as the menu, and everything is that ellipse shape. Even the dish that they serve the pudding in, which you get to take home. I would love to take Nancy here because I think she would love the design as well as the pudding.
