The Bedford Vault
A few months ago Dallas and I met up with some friends at The Bedford in Wicker Park. This place is nearby my first apartment in Chicago, but when I lived there the building was an MB Bank. Now the bank part on the street level is a CVS and the basement of the bank is a restaurant and bar called The Bedford.

We didn’t eat at The Bedford, we just had drinks. The cool thing is that the bank vault and safe deposit boxes are still intact. We sat in the lounge and were surrounded by hundreds of safe deposit boxes. It was pretty cool. And neat to see the vault door just behind us.
The Bedford Bathroom
I was drinking white wine that night. Other people were drinking fancy cocktails. I think everyone liked their drinks. I for sure liked the setting. Even the bathroom was gorgeous. I’d go back and try the food, but I’d for sure go back to show off a cool cocktail lounge to out-of-town guests. Speaking of the allergist, I took a prescription he made for Pataday eye drops to CVS and when they rang it up, they said I owed $50. I was all “$50!??!?! WTF!??!” and they said that insurance covered $59 and I had to pay $50. Wow. For 2.5 milliliters. To put this in persepctive, there are almost 5 milliliters in a teaspoon.. so that’s like $159 for a half of a teaspoon. I don’t know if I’ll be refilling this prescription very often.

I bought a Hallmark card at CVS recently. The card and envelope were packaged together in a plastic wrap. I thought it was kind of odd, but didn’t think much of it. The card was sitting on my desk for a few days before I realized…. the envelope was postage paid! I don’t recall the card costing more (to cover postage), but probably it was a bit more. I think this is a real convenience for mailing a card. The only thing is…. a lot of the time you just give a card to someone.. Like on a birthday gift or whatnot. Will be interested to see what happens with this in the future. Looks like Hallmark launched postage paid greetings this past February.

Thought it was strange how this box of Thera Tears Steri Lids was bragging about “Science-Based Lid Hygiene.”
These eye drops are not too expensive, unless you price them by the quart.
