Band

This weekend Josh & Tweeny got married at the Cocoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC. People flew in from all over. It was great to see old friends and to make and meet new ones. The museum and the wedding was kind of formal, but Josh & Tweeny managed to make it fun and funny at the same time. In their vows Josh, who is about 6’5″, promised Tweeny, who is about 5’0″, to always reach things off the top shelf for her. Tweeny vowed to always protect Josh from carbonated beverages. The food was excellent, the museum was beautiful, the band was fun. Great time.

Also, even though the trip was short I was really glad to be able to have Kelly & Jeff meet up with all of us for lunch before the wedding.

And I’m still messing around with using the night setting in lowly lit, party atmospheres. I think I need the shutter to be just a little faster.

Callalillie’s Macaroni & Cheese

November 14th, 2003 · 20 Comments

I got this recipe from a blogger’s site so I thought it only appropriate that I blog the making of it.

Everything starts off badly when I spill elbow noodles all over the kitchen. Finally managed to get some of the noodles into a measuring cup.
Grating the onion made me bawl like a baby. Starting to make the sauce. I’m not very graceful in the kitchen. . .
but my cooking usually turns out in the end.
The point at which I realized I didn’t have enough cheese. The noodles
are cooked and the base of the sauce is made.
At the store buying more cheese. I couldn’t find a deli that had any so
I ended up walking all the way to the supermarket – about 6 blocks each
way.
Butter & spices, starting over making the base of the sauce. My pot was too small so I had to transfer everything to a bigger one.
Then I could add the milk.
And cheese. The finished cheese sauce.
Buttering the casserole dish. At this point I realized my casserole dish isn’t big enough and all of
the cheese sauce won’t fit. Hoping that it will still turn out ok.
Making the breadcrumb topping. Pre-cooking.
Crap. I forgot to preheat the oven. Now I have to wait for it to heat
up.
The fire alarm kept going off but I’m not sure why. The macaroni &
cheese seems to have turned out.
Ready to dig in! oof! Stuffed. It was soo good. So rich & creamy!!!
