River North, Chicago
One morning last week I was walking to work and it was so cold and the wind was so strong that it was making this strange, ghostly fog? steam? I don’t know what you’d call it.
Take a while to get used to it, then tell me if you like these larger sized photos.

#1 reason I’m thankful my closest El stop is underground: When the windchill factor pushes the temperature below zero, there’s a 60% chance of snow, and the train takes what seems like 20 minutes to get to the station, I don’t have to stand outside. It’s freaking cold out there!

Chicago Theater, The Loop, Chicago
I passed by the Chicago Theater on Thursday night as I was shopping for a gift for Riley for her baptism tomorrow. The workers there were changing the letters on the marquee and it was kind of fun to watch them stand in piles of letters reading what should be spelled out on the sign.
Today was freeeeezing outside. I still wore my denim jacket but also wore gloves and was still cold. I shopped for hours for an outfit to wear tomorrow. I don’t know why I’ve been stressing out about it so much. I guess because I don’t have a ton of clothes for the fall right now. I have summer clothes and winter clothes but not a lot for in between and not a lot that I would feel comfortable standing up in front of an audience in, since I am one of Riley’s sponsors. I ended paying way too much for a skirt that I really love and have vowed to wear it every week to justify its price. I hope everyone likes black and white tweed because you’re going to be seeing a lot of it!

My mom made me a fleece blanket and mailed it to me for my birthday. It’s so fuzzy and warm. And right in time because Labor Day weekend wasn’t ONLY symbolically the end of the summer in New York. On September 1 it started raining and the temperature dropped significantly and hasn’t varied since.
