I must have said that at least 10,000 times yesterday. I volunteered to help the Google Transit team spread the word yesterday about being able to get CTA directions on Google Maps. We gave out informational cards, Google Maps hats, talked to people and gave demos at kiosks. It was fun to interact with all the different people where I was stationed at Clark/Lake, but man… 5 hours on my feet after walking around so much in New Orleans really killed me. I was dead last night. I think every media outlet in Chicago reported on the new feature, though, so it was worth it.
Update: You can see me in the news clip below. For some reason I spin in a circle.
US Cellular customers can now talk on the CTA trains, even underground. This would annoy me more, except that my commute is on the Brown Line now, which is completely above ground and therefore people have always been able to use their cell phones on the Brown Line trains. And they do. And they talk loud. And it’s annoying.
I hate these new garbage “cans.” Trash Receptacles , I guess. It wasn’t so bad when they were using black trash bags, but now that they’re using clear.. it’s just like the garbage might as well be just laying there. I guess there’s something psych that’s comforting to have the garbage NOT VISABLE even if it’s in the same place.
