Chi-Scream

Loden and Danny both told me to watch for this new ice cream cart called Chi-Scream and I wasn’t sure why, but then I realized that it was the new project of one of their Green Zebra and Spring coworkers, Josh. I said I’d watch for them and didn’t give it much more thought until I saw them at the Logan Square Farmers Market on Sunday. I chatted a bit with the girls (the one on the right is Josh’s wife). Chi-Scream is making gourmet ice cream sandwiches and delivering them around the loop via bicycles and carts. These ladies were super nice and we chatted a bit about the restaurants and Chi-Scream. I said I’d pass their hellos on to Danny and Loden and it was time to try the ice cream!

At the Logan Square Farmers Market Chi-Scream had four flavors to choose from: triple chocolate cookie with peanut butter banana ice cream; lemon cookie with blueberry ice cream; vanilla bean shortbread with strawberry ice cream and molasses cookie with double vanilla ice cream. I opted for the chocolate, peanut butter and banana option. I was told to wait a few minutes to let the ice cream sandwich soften, but I could not wait! The sandwich looked so good, I could not wait to dive in, even though it was frozen hard. As I ate it, it softened, though, and it was delicious. I loved the triple chocolate cookie. The ice cream was more banana-y than peanut butter-y, but tasty none-the-less.

While I was chatting with the Chi-Scream girls, they told me they deliver all around the loop. I asked if they ever come out on East Randolph by my office and they said that if I request it on Twitter, they can bike over whenever I want. I may just have to do this on the next hot day!
