2 Parties, 1 Night

April 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Steve, Rachelle, Dallas :: Rogers Park, Chicago

Party 1: Dallas’ college friend Steve and his wife Amy are moving to New Jersey at the end of the month. His going away party was on Saturday night. We played a lot of video games and talked about New Jersey and New York a lot. We don’t see Steve and Amy as much as we should here in Chicago, so wouldn’t it be funny if we get to see them more when we go on trips to the east coast? Oh, also, Steve and Amy have a really, really large and beautiful condo in Rogers Park. It’s for sale if anyone is interested! I wish I had their bathroom. I could live in it. The shower is enormous and includes a huge soaking tub and as if the rain shower head isn’t enough, it also has spouts that spray straight out from the wall!

Chris and Cory :: Humboldt Park, Chicago

Party 2: Dallas’ cousin Cory got engaged to her boyfriend Chris recently while they were on a trip to Vail. Chris’ brother and his fiance threw a party for them to celebrate. I didn’t drink at the first party, but for some reason when we got to the second party I hit the champagne cava big time and played the role of Drunk Girl. I don’t think I did anything too embarassing, but I’m sure I’ll be hearing about it anyway the next time I see all of Dallas’ cousins. FYI, the stuff below is super tasty, but lethal.

Every year (2005, 2006) we go to Jen and Chad’s house for their New Years party. We like it because a lot of our friends go, it’s casual and laid back, and there’s no battling crowds in a packed bar or paying megabucks to get into some fancy club. Also, no need to try to get a cab on the busiest cab night of the year, since Jen and Chad are only a block away.

This was Quinn’s first Christmas and New Years. I think he made it til about 8pm. Maybe next year he’ll make it to the countdown.. probably not, though!

I like the photos I took this year, although a few of them are fuzzy. I think the liquor was making my brain fuzzy and I didn’t always check all the settings. Oh well.

We all became Google employees as of June 1, but it wasn’t until last week that we finally got our Noogler (new Googler) hats. We also were surprised with a cake, champagne, beer, cheese and big pretzels with cinnamon or mustard.

This year we went to Jen and Chad’s for New Years Eve again. Hard to pass up that party since now it’s only a block from our house and there’s no need to worry about a ride or getting a cab or anything like that. Dallas made more poke and we also seared some ahi. We ended up staying up until 4:30am and I beat all the boys to be the big Texas Hold’em winner. We were playing a cash game, which means that each chip is worth $1.

Today we went out to Jeff & Heather’s house in Schaumburg to visit with Dallas’ family. As always the food was excellent and we all ate our red beans for good luck. One last baby fix for the holiday season.
