In my mind, my trip to my new allergist would entail me telling him my symptoms and showing him my records from my old allergist and then him writing me out some new prescriptions and sending me on my merry way. Instead, he decided to torture me for 1 1/2 hours with a scalpley type instrument and a bonanza of my favorite allergens. #1 reaction: cats. No surprise. I have a big red blotch on my back that’s bleeding from that one. Yum. #2: ragweed. And ragweed season isn’t until the end of the summer. I’m looking forward to it. There is no ragweed in CA, so I’m unsure how I’ll react. He’s having me come back in 2 months when my friend ragweed makes his appearance.

Spoiled Brats

A few doors down from me on 49th Street is the Spoiled Brats Pet Store. Almost every day on my walk home from the subway I stop and just kind of say hello to the cats in the window. If they’re out I’ll stop and pet one. It’s kind of 30 seconds of feeling like I’m doing something nice for these cats that sit in the window 24 hours a day. I feel bad for them. Plus it’s kind of nice for me.. I get to know them a little bit. If I can’t have a pet to come home to then I can pretend that the cat in the window remembers me day to day. Today I noticed that there was a new cat. It was pure white, short hair. I gently tapped on the window and it turned it’s head and looked at me. It had one yellow eye and one blue eye.. but oddly enough it didn’t look freakish.. it was a beautiful cat.
