Eat Boutique’s New England Gift Box

February 8th, 2012 · 1 Comment

I’m kind of embarassed it took me so long to post about this and say a public thank you, but over the holidays (on December 20), I totally won this awesome New England Gift Box from Eat Boutique. I have followed Erin’s blog, Erin Cooks, for quite some time and when she had a contest there, I entered on a whim. And won!!! These were the goodies in the box:

  • Slightly sweet, totally crunchy granola from Cow & Crumb (Cambridge, Massachusetts)
  • A caramel sauce made from goat’s milk from Fat Toad Farm (Brookfield, Vermont)
  • Lark (Essex, Massachusetts) whole wheat oat cookies with cranberries and bittersweet chocolate
  • A cherrywood smoked sea salt for finishing soups, roasts and veggies from Salt Traders (Ipswich, Massachusetts)
  • One of the best maple syrups from Sweet Brook Farm (Williamstown, Massachusetts)

I haven’t tried everything yet, but what I have has been so yummy! Thanks, Erin and thank you, Eat Boutique!

MIT is Suing Frank Gehry

Gehry MIT buildings
MIT’s Stata Center, Cambridge, MA (photo by jonas_k)

Last week John and I walked passed these buildings while walking through the MIT campus on the way to get a burrito at Anna’s. I don’t know why I didn’t take a photo (I’ve been lacking creative spirit a bit lately – that’s another post), but this photo is by jonas_k on Flickr. As we passed by John commented that the buildings are cool and I said they were “Gehry-esque.” The next day on the news I saw that MIT is suing Frank Gehry for negligence because the buildings are going to hell and having to be rebuilt now. I guess I was wrong when I said they were “Gehry-esque”…. they were Gehry.

That’s a Lot of Buns

buns
Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA

Dear Legal Sea Foods:

Last night I was working late in my hotel room after my conference and I ordered take out from your Cambridge-Kendall Square restaurant, which is a short walk from my hotel. I wondered why the take out bag was so large and as soon as I got it to my room and opened it up, I figured out why. Six buns with one order? All I had was crab cakes and a cup of soup. Don’t get me wrong.. the buns were perfectly crusty on the outside and piping hot and soft on the inside…but six?

Love you anyway,

Rachelle

Anna’s Carnitas Burrito
Anna’s Taqueria at MIT, Cambridge, MA

The last time Dallas and I were in Massachusetts we had one afternoon on our own in Boston and were trying to figure out where to eat. Dallas wanted to go get carnitas at Anna’s Taqueria because it’s his one true love. Besides me. And playing golf and watching sports. Anyway, I wanted to have seafood, so we went to Union Oyster House.

This week I’m in Boston for the User Interface Twelve conference and where’d I take JZ for lunch today? Anna’s (the MIT location). And what did I get? Carnitas. And then who posted a photo? Err..
