Foot-Long Grilled Cheese

December 4th, 2011 · 2 Comments

Earlier in the football season we watched some games at The Scout in the South Loop. I ordered a salad for lunch, but several people at our table got the foot-long grilled cheese. There are 3 different varieties: one with bacon, one with Canadian bacon and a side of pickles, and one with bacon and jalepenos. All came with tomato basil soup. It was crazy how big these sandwiches were! No one could finish, of course, so our table just ended up free-for-alling on them. I had a few bites of the sandwich with the bacon and jalepeno and it was really good. Especially dipped in the soup. That’s the grilled cheese everyone agreed was the best, with bacon and jalapeno. It’s called The Wolff. Look for it on the menu.

As a bonus, here’s a glowing photo of Adam:

Oh and behind him Jarrett Payton (son of Walter) was recording an ESPN Radio show.

One more thing. Who is this idiot who not only bought a Vikings Favre jersey, but is still wearing it out in public!??!

Superbowl XLIV

February 11th, 2010 · No Comments

Superbowl XLIV last Sunday was the most watched TV program in history. We watched at Trent and Loden’s house. It was our first visit to their place and we had a good time. Fun, but not too crazy. Laid back. Loden made a ton of great food, including chocolate covered bacon. Let me say it again. CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON! Then again, I’d expect nothing less than fabulous food from someone who works for Shawn McClain.

I was glad that the Saints won over the Colts. Not many of the commercials stood out for me, but I did enjoy Brett Favre making fun of himself in this commercial:

Who Says Cowboys Can’t Cook?

January 19th, 2010 · 3 Comments

Two weekends ago Dallas had to travel to Fort Worth for work so he got a ticket to go see the Dallas Cowboys play the Eagles in their home field playoff game. They won. Dallas was ecstatic!

The following weekend, this past Sunday, the Cowboys played the Vikings. Dallas cooked a bunch of Japanese curry stew and invited a friends over to watch the game. Dallas was all decked out in his Cowboys gear as he was cooking in the morning. I wasn’t sure who I wanted to cheer for, but I kind of wanted Brett Favre to do well so I wore my Packers tshirt. Dallas didn’t really like it, but oh well. In the end, or actually, right from the beginning, the Cowboys did not do well and lost the game. But at least everyone liked the curry!

Later on we watched the second game and played some games. Killian brought over a Press Your Luck game for the Wii so we took turns playing that. We also busted out our new Super Mario Brothers game.

And ate more delicious curry.

Packers Preseason Game

September 21st, 2008 · 1 Comment

These photos are from a Packers preseason game I went to on August 28. My cousin Kelly and her husband Jeff had a set of four tickets and Jeff’s brother had another set of four tickets. Kelly and Jeff sat by Jeff’s brother and his girlfriend. I sat with my dad, my brother and my sister-in-law. Kelly and Jeff live in De Pere and won the right to purchase the tickets in some sort of Brown County resident lottery.

This was the last preseason game before regular season started. Our first stringers only played for one series, which resulted in a touchdown. After that, it was all secondary. The Packers ended up losing after a touchdown was reviewed and taken back. It didn’t really matter for anything, though. We still had a great time.

We parked in some guy’s front lawn. Somehow he fit about 6 or 8 cars on his tiny city lot. He told us not to worry about the flowers, so I’m pretty sure we were parked right on his wife’s gardening. I think we paid $10 for the spot. It was a short walk to Lambeau Field. This is my brother, Richard, my cousin, Kelly, and my dad, Rick, walking to the game.

Some people tailgating. Tons of tailgaters out, of course.

This was the entrance closest to our seats. You can see my sister-in-law, Amanda, in the lower left-hand corner.

Just before entering Lambeau Field. My dad, my sister-in-law, my brother.

The Don Hutson Center as seen from Lambeau Field. This is where the Packers practice. Once a long time ago, my friend Jessie and I went to see them train. They all ride local kids’ bikes back to Lambeau to shower and whatnot. Brett Favre was there, of course. I got my shirt signed by a player who never even made it one season, I think.

Looking back down on the entrance.

This was the first time we could remember seeing Coors at Lambeau Field. We were betting it was because of the Miller/Coors merger.

Me and my brother. We got the pom poms for free when we walked in. Some promotion. I can’t even remember now. Here are photos of my brother and I at Lambeau Field in 1999 and 2005.

Sums up how some people feel about the Favre situation.

Our tickets.

The field.

Amen!

If you look close you can see the wave. It went around a bunch of times.

The field again.

Me and Amanda. Yeh, I had a few beers!

Amanda & Kelly

I’ve been going through these photos all day today getting psyched for the game tonight. I have to keep it in check, though, because they are playing the Cowboys. Dallas and I have an agreement not to get to crazy…. all our friends tease that someone will be moving out before the night is over, but we’ve survived 2 Green Bay vs. Dallas games so far in our relationship, hopefully we can stand another. Cross your fingers… and GO PACKERS!
