Candy dispensers are a favorite feature of the new kitchen.

Last Friday Roundarch moved on up, to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky! That is… our office moved from the 12th floor of 350 N. LaSalle to the 40th floor of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower in the neighborhood of Lakeshore East. On Friday we headed over incrementally to get our security badges and have a building and office tour. Then we all celebrated in the new space for the rest of the day.

On Monday we moved into our space. It’s going to take a while to get used to this new commute and these fancy new digs. Right now it doesn’t feel very Roundarch-y, but I’m sure as we start to go there every day it will start to settle in. For now, I will try not to sit and stare out the window all day!! The views are amazing!

Audio Tour of Millennium Park

Audio Tour of Millennium Park, Chicago

Audio Tour of Millennium Park, Chicago

I made an appointment for “after work” last Friday, not remembering it was a holiday weekend and our office was shutting down early. After the camera crew left, I had a few hours to kill before I had to be there so I downloaded the mp3s and put them on my iPod and took the audio tour of Millennium Park. More info on the tour is in my Chicagoist post.

While I was walking around looking at the features of the park and listening to a description and history of them on my iPod I took a photo of each thing with my iPod playing the mp3 about it. I got a lot of strange looks, but it was fun to turn it into a photo project. I think what Millennium Park is doing with the tour is really innovative. I could see this happening in all kinds of situations.. parks, museums, zoos. All those places that sell audio accompaniment. Except this way is FREE and you can keep the mp3s if you want.

BP Bridge is the only bridge in the world designed by Frank Gehry. The bridge goes over Columbus Drive, connecting Millennium Park with Grant Park. It also provides an acoustic barrier between park goers and traffic noise.
