Smallest Book

I’m a sucker for the Amazon message that says “hey if you just spend a few more bucks then you’ll qualify for free shipping!” Why not get something for myself, I always think. So, when I was ordering Dallas’ birthday gift, I threw in a cheap, $5 book called Eight Million Stories in a New York Minute that’s been on my wishlist forever. It came today. It’s tiny!! Like 3″ x 2″. This is the box it came in with a pen I put beside it for reference. Even though the pages are so small, each story is only one page long or less. When I attend SXSW Interactive I am refreshed. It’s not like I come home with 500 notes on tips and tricks, it’s more like I come back wanting to produce a higher quality of work. I guess that’s what happens when you spend a few days rubbing elbows with the web industry’s leaders. These are the panels and presentations I attended this year:

» Craigslist and Online Community
» Accessing Multimedia: The Object of My Perception
» Moblog Nation: You Can Take It With You
» MoveOn.org’s Eli Pariser and Zack Exley Keynote
» Wikwiki, What?
» Replacing Billboard, Bestseller Lists and Editors With Robots
» Hi-Fi Design With CSS
» Blogging Next: Where Personal Publishing Goes From Here
» Bloggie Awards Ceremony (if either Gothamist or Satan’s Laundromat won, I was to accept the award on their behalf. unfortunately neither won in any category that they were nominated.

What to do with my Amazon Gift Certificate?

June 30th, 2002 · Comments Off

So.. this week I got an Amazon gift certificate and have fantasized for days about all the books I’m going to buy. Then yesterday in the shower (where I get all my good ideas) I realized that amazon.com sells loads of other things that aren’t books. .. and that I could probably get.. say a digital camera… and get a big chunk off of it with the gift certificate I have! I’m SO excited now!
