Birthday Flowers

For the 11th year in a row my parents sent me flowers on my birthday! I usually am expecting this delivery on my birthday, but this year I was busy at work and not thinking about it. And because my birthday is on a Saturday this year, my mom sent the flowers early, on Wednesday, so it was a big surprise.

For the week leading up to my birthday my dad was in Chicago staying with us and helping us paint four rooms in our condo. He played dumb even when I told him thanks for the flowers!

Every year the flowers that my parents send me are so different. Last year I remember they were very fall-like and this year they were very bright and summery. My mom remembered that I really like white daisies and made sure to get those in there. There were also a lot of yellow roses and flowers.

My parents also got me a new Packers shirt and honestly the painting was an appropriately timed gift. I don’t know why we waited four years to paint anything, but the rooms look fantastic now. I’ll have to post some before and after photos later.

Finally, as has become the tradition these past few years, here’s an updated photo of my work desk in Roundarch’s new office space.

In case you were wondering, my mom said that she’s used K&K Flowers for the last 5 years in a row. They do a great job, so check them out in the Loop if you need to get flowers! And thanks to Mom & Dad for my yearly flowers!

UPDATE: On the Monday after my birthday, Nintendo also sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

This is the 3rd year in a row that I got flowers from Nintendo. Thanks, guys!!!
