Port of Blarney
Our day at the Bristol Renaissance Faire was a long one, but little did I realize at the time, it was only about half over! The van picked us up from the faire and took us on a short ride to a bar called Port of Blarney in Antioch, IL.

Here’s a fun fact: I spent an entire evening and night in Antioch and thought I was in Wisconsin! Antioch is about a mile or so south of the Wisconsin and Illinois border, but is on the Illinois side.

So, why’s the bar called PORT of Blarney? Because it’s where you go to take a boat out to Blarney Island, an island bar known as the Key West of the Midwest…. according to them. I didn’t really understand before we got there. I thought there was an island in Grass Lake and someone built a bar on the island. The fact is that the bar IS the island.

It was a beautiful day, so we all sat outside and enjoyed some beverages while we waited for the boat to arrive to pick us up. This guy kept getting in our photos.

See? It was on purpose, I’m sure!

Finally, after about one drink, the boat arrived and took us out to Blarney Island. More on that to come….
